This week I’m going to share with you my favorite five healthy store-bought snacks. They’re perfect for summer road trips, or those times when you’re on the go and need something at short notice. But sometimes the best option is to make your own snacks. After years of research into nutrition and reading labels, I’ve come to the conclusion that I have no other option but to buy some snacks at the supermarket.
With 10 years of experience in the industry, I can confidently say that there are some great store-bought snacks out there. This is why I’m writing this post – to give you a rundown on my 5 favorite healthy store-bought snacks.
My latest article also has 5 processed kid snacks you should avoid and includes tips on how to make your own healthy snacks when you have the time. There are also plenty of unhealthy options marketed to kids. on Amazon and the grocery store that are worth avoiding. Take a look at it here: “5 processed kid snacks you should avoid”
Make better food choices by reading labels and learning more about nutrition. Knowledge really is power!
Counting calories? I don’t have time for that, so I just have a few of my favorite snacks from the store. They’re healthy and not too processed. I try to pick foods that contain as few ingredients as possible, but also provide quality nutrients. Organic food is always my first choice! Here are my favorite, nutritious snack options. They’re perfect for a road trip, snacks at school, or to rev up your energy at work.
My whole family enjoys these, and I hope you will too! 1. Organic Trail Mix This is perfect for a road trip, as it doesn’t take up much space. I keep mine in a baggie in my purse and snack on it when I have time, or just buy it on the go. It’s packed with fiber, protein, iron and other nutrients that get you going without feeling too hungry later!
These are the best snack bars out there. I’ve been trying to find a healthy option for ages. Just look at the ingredients: dates, almonds, and cashews. We like the Cashew Cookie and chocolate chip cookie dough flavors most. Kids these days are really different and more creative than in the past. My 6-year-old son calls them “Lava Bars” and he actually thinks they are made in a volcano.
M.C., Food lover We’ve had this bar for a while and I love it. I mostly eat protein bars but these are lighter and more savory. It has a great balance of savoriness, crunchiness, and sweetness. -T.M., Food lover The newest flavor, MOCHA LATTE, is my favorite! Call us spoiled but these are so good. I’m such a big fan that when I ran out of bars in the office, we all bought one online. -B.H., Food lover
Wallaby Greek Yogurt
I love this brand! For the healthiest type of yogurt, look for Greek, whole milk brands. I usually go for either the plain variety or these purely unsweetened yogurts. They’re authentically strained organic whole milk Greek yogurts containing very little processed ingredients. without any added sweetens, it’s delicious and can make life even sweeter. This means if you want to enjoy your favorite yogurt while on a picnic or in the park, keep it cool with an ice pack or frozen container. Snacks Remember that healthy eating starts with what you put in your body! A low-fat diet often consists of processed foods, which are less nutritionally rich, and often contains added sugars.
GoGo Squeez Organic Applesauce
There really is nothing better than homemade applesauce, but this is a good choice when you don’t have time to make it yourself. The pouches make it much easier for kids to enjoy too. There are so many different combinations of fruit that you can put together to make smoothies! For me, the ingredients are just fruits, but there are also tofu, chia seeds, and more.
you can use. whatever you want! I have a hard time finding grocery store produce that is vegan, so I’m excited to try this out since it has some pre-made ingredients. This is just fruit and things but they are all healthy and I love the variety of flavors! Rated 5 out of 5 by nancylindze from Very good! This is a great way to get a lot of fruits into kids. It can be mixed with pouches and juices or just drank straight from the pouch.
TERRA Plantain Chips
Terra chips are made with healthier oils, and they’re great. I primarily like them because they taste a lot better than other natural chip brands I’ve tried, and also because they don’t make me feel terrible afterward. These are perfect for vacations, a snack, or something salty. I like the plantain flavor best – they’re not available on Amazon but are easy to find at Whole Foods.
